Lotus Templar Inc. was created to address the deep spiritual hunger and systemic underrepresentation of African American and minority communities within traditional Buddhist and religious spaces. Born out of the lived experience of its founder, Rev. Shaviance Dor, LTI is a 501(c)(3) Theravada Buddhist Church that reclaims ancestral wisdom, centers marginalized voices, and offers a sacred, inclusive path of spiritual formation, healing, and empowerment. Through ordination pathways, rites of passage, and community care, LTI provides a new model for what it means to be Buddhist in the 21st century—contemporary, culturally grounded, and radically compassionate.

Rev. Shaviance Dor is the visionary founder and Spiritual Director of Lotus Templar Inc., a 501(c)(3) Theravada Buddhist Church rooted in Afro-Indigenous wisdom and committed to spiritual liberation, community healing, and interfaith service. A devoted practitioner, teacher, and Army Chaplain Candidate, Rev. Dor brings together a unique blend of military leadership, Buddhist theology, and ancestral reverence to guide individuals and communities toward embodied wholeness.

She holds a Master of Divinity in Buddhist Studies from Naropa University and is currently developing inclusive spiritual programs that serve both virtual sanghas and local communities. Her work spans ordination pathways, rites of passage, youth ministry, and integrative wellness. Through Lotus Templar, Rev. Dor offers sacred spaces for those historically excluded from mainstream spiritual traditions, fostering resilience, ritual, and radical belonging. As a mother, veteran, educator, and guide, she walks the path of Dhamma with fierce compassion and unwavering dedication to the healing of all beings.
